Is Financial Controller acceptable experience

Hi,

I passed level one in December and intend to tackle level two in 2015.

I am a Financial Controller of two companies whose parent is a listed entity with revenue over 2.5 billion. To put into context the parent has approximately 200 companies. My main responsible is for all financial matters of the two companies, although I do assist with analysis on pontential takeover targets, forecasting macro trends and the sector in general.

What are people’s thoughts on if the above will be acceptable experience for CFAI?

Regards

It sounds as though your work is instrumental in making investment decisions, which is what CFA Institute wants.

I’d e-mail them and ask them.

Here in Pakistan, Financial controller is a very senior position and usually the next in line to become the CFO. If it’s the same thing in Australia, then I don’t think you will have any trouble at all.

One advice I would give you is to write about the investments and analysis aspects of your job and not about about reporting/auditing (accounting) functions.

Bingo!
