Is it worth redoing EOC one more time after reading entire curicullum (and doing EOC on the way) a month ago? Or better to get down to mocks or qbank?
I’m planning to do EOC (for the second time) starting next week.
Qbank is good to nail down the basic concept (and in a few instances some of the tougher concepts)…but EOCs and BB have a lot of good hidden “tricks” and material. Personally, I would do EOC over qbank. Or try to get in a few qbank, but weight more time on EOC.
Thanks a lot! How about mocks? How many you guys plan to do? Is it worth doing schwesser mocks at atll? Any experience with them?
I echo this - I was flirting with the idea of moving over to extensive QBank review but found it to be less helpful. EOC trumps QBank and Schweser Concept Checkers by a longshot. EOCs and BBs are extremely useful in both learning the concepts and understanding the way CFAI asks questions. I’m going through some EOCs that have given me trouble a third time now, like Pensions, which just doesn’t seem to stick.
My current plan is Schweser tests the next three weekends with review out of CFAI during the week on glaring weaknesses. CFAI 2013 Mock 5/11, then the remaining Schweser tests the next two weekends. My limited experience is that the Schweser mocks are weak and don’t test multiple concepts within one question the way CFAI does.
Seriously, I don’t think you can do the EOCs too much. If you happen across a question or two that you’ve memorized the answer for, do the question to arrive at the answer, don’t just take it and move on. Reason out in your head WHY it’s the right answer. I have to believe a candidate is well on his/her way if they’ve MEMORIZED all the EOCs!
I’m assuming EOC is End of Chapter questions in the CFA text? What does BB stand for?
You’re correct about EOCs…BB are Blue Boxes - they are the shaded boxes throughout the chapters that have questions/examples that help you practice the concepts along the way. Many are quite challenging.
