Is KAPLAN SCHWESER Enough??

Guys suggest me on this…

Are schweser notes for LEVEL 2 enough for preparation?? Or should I consider reading even the CFAI notes?

I am about to start my preparation anyday. So please jump in with your worthful suggestions…

Regards

Hi abab1990,

Check out this thread.

My personal approach is that I’m using Schweser as my main source and then reference to CFAI when I don’t understand stuff. For level 1, this was my approach but I NEVER needed to go to the CFAI books. For L2, I’m finding it different. There are some pages where I’m reading and it’s just words, they don’t make any sense put together. For theses cases, I’m referring to the CFAI material.

It also seems to depend on the subject.

Equities, Corp Finance - I didn’t find myself needing to refer the CFAI material. It’s a lot of formulas from what I can see. Schweser seems good enough.

Econ - lots of stuff is flying way above my head. I’m going to have to refer to CFAI to understand it.

Listen, nobody can answer these questions correctly. XX % would say schweser is better another YY% would say CFAI is better.

Try reading yourself and check out your comfort level in that topic. My friend and me used different notes to prepare and we shared notes if we found it difficult… He had schweser and I had finquiz, & we shared learnings at the end of the week over a chat.

I dont want to sound “not being helpful”, but my choice would not be good for you and thats the reason I am saying this… Try different books and come up with the one that suits you. For me Finquiz was easily the best, where as my friend goes with Schweser and both of us cleared level 2 :))

I used Schweser as my primary source (seemed better written/more understandable than CFAI texts). Since I got through all those Schweser books, I then went back and read the CFAI text secondarily.

I’ve been using a combination of both and it’s working well for me. Pretty much I read the CFAI reading and highlight what I find is important and then I use schweser to review and create my flash cards for each LOS. After that I complete the practice questions and move onto the next reading.

While this method is definitely more time consuming than other strategies, I find the flash cards to be invaluable in the review period and really forces you to write out the important parts

First timer here.

From my brief encounter of the curriculum, I found that schweser is a decent summary. You need CFAI books for the EOC… which are frankly ball busters compared to the schweser ones.

good luck
