I’m sorry for not having googled it on the forum
However, by chance I have 2013 Schweser 4 books + 1 Practice book
I’m still contemplating whether to take exam or not. And the cost is one of the considerations.
So my question is: are the above Schweser materials enough to pass part 1? Is it necessarry or not to waste $250 books on official books?
Thank you dudes
I can sell you my books for 150. I am not taking the exam anymore
email me at mhakim@friars,providence.edu if you are interested. (not a scam lol)
If you’re the kind of person that likes or needs to understand the roots of a concept before having to apply it, then the FRM books would be a good purchase.
If you already have some experience in this area and are good at grasping things based on the summary, then Schweser may be enough.
I’m more of a former guy so I would recommend getting the official books. I was considering the same question before I decided to purchase the books (disclosure: I knew my company would pay for the books if I passed the exam). An in-depth study of the FRM books, a review of the Schweser material, and lots of practice tests should be more than enough.
There is an alternative - invest in the John Hull book and also Bionic Turtle. Read Schweser for anything other than Hull and practice like hell alongwith BT.
I would say go for “Philip Jorian” along with Schweser or GARP material. If you have some knowledge about the topics then go for Schweser (or other material from market) and if you don’t have any knowledge about the topics then go for GARP material. Philip Jorian is a must as it has topic wise previous exam questions and it gives a good idea what kind of questions you can expect in which topic
