Is the Curriculum E-Book mandatory?

Hello everybody,

I got a general question about the extent of the regisration and the payment based upon that.

If one is going through the registration almost at the end one is asked whether or not to choose the E-Book or plus paper back version.

Mostly candidates aquiring study material from other providers, therefore, one doesn’t actually need the CFA-Institute Curriculum, thereby safing $150.

Does the CFA-Institute make you require to buy the curriculum mandatory, or is there a possibility of a waiver?

Thanks

Bedee

As far as I could tell, YES, the e-book is included in your registration. 3 weeks passed after registering for the exam and I’d received no word from CFAI regarding progress or a delivery date for my CFAI materials. Contacted CFAI support and was provided the enlightening suggestion that I shouldn’t be frustrated since CFAI had graciously made the books accessible in e-book form. Because reading from my laptop screen is all I want to do after spending the previous 10+ hours at the office staring at monitors…

Two recommendations:

  • eye drops
  • you have to hold Ctrl + Down/Up arrow to scroll (as opposed to just the arrow keys, as used in PDFs, Excel, Word, all web browsers, and probably every other application on your machine)

The e-book is mandatory, but I like to buy the hard copy as well to make notes and stuff.
