Is Tiered Investment Portfolios = Pyramid / Layer investing?

A client will usually structure his priorities via a pyramid structure which is sub optimal. An advisor who applies Behavioural finance will then advise a Tiered Investment Portfolio which the client can understand and then will be happy to stay with for the long term.

how different is Tiered Investment Portfolio from a pyramid structure?? or are they the same thing, just that some economic or financial principal has been used in the construction??

thanks in advance!

i am not sure what the difference is. maybe its because its been a while since i read the behavioural finance sessions. if i had tiered investment portfolio in a question than i would presume they are speaking about they pyramid/layer approach to investing
