It appears that globalization leads inevitably to socialism.

Bush’s stupid experiment has proved that if we open our markets unilaterally, we will compete with foreign governments and their printing presses, not just foreign companies. Our companies will have to stay on constant gov life support just to remain competitive. NAFTA et all, needs to be scrapped. We are being bled dry. We exported all our jobs and got nothing back but sh!t customer service and poison food. Sorry free world traders. It just doesn’t work the way it is supposed to.

You have officially lost it.

Someone told me that the US was behaving more like China. There’s some truth to it though.

Uhhhh trade has increased with NAFTA, though it does have some bad aspects. Regardless, not really liking the premise of this thread.

Marx was right, where’s my sickle.

This is not advocating communism rather benevolent capitalism in place the crony capitalism we now have.

socialim = benevolent capitalism; see: Europe

NAFTA ->Not equal to free trade.it is managed trade for big business. free trade doesnt exist today

we want NSDP back

Louisvillegrad - you are against socialism but vote for the party that wants more government. Am I missing something?

Ridiculous.

LOL @ the concept of “benevolent capitalism” Seems like you’re aiming for Marx’s viewpoint of Utopia or “social capitalism” which, unfortunately, will not exist during any of our lifetimes and could quite possibly never exist. In theory it sounds wonderful but how realistic is it in practice? Also, your discontent with the Bush admin is more than apparent, but what good are you doing constantly complaining on an internet message board? *SMH*

someone always has to be in power. for marx’s utopia to work, this person must go unchecked otherwise, the ‘checkers’ are the one’s truly in power. either way, those who have the most power are the ones who must be 100% godly and good. BUT, those who seek power are often the one’s willing to abuse it, thereby making it very difficult to establish the system and enforce it ‘kindly’. You do realize that if NAFTA is scrapped it would be even worse for the U.S. Canada can easily trade with anyone and everyone else who needs their energy and materials and will gladly do it should the U.S. attempt to charge more. When Obama stated that he was going to review NAFTA, Harper laughed saying that we will get even more concessions now than we did back then as we have much more ‘resource’ power. We have the fastest growing production of oil and gas outside of OPEC and we have the technology you need to access your shale (ie. Petrobank resources) Scrapping NAFTA would bankrupt America.
