Item Set Format

What has been your strategy for dealing with the item sets in your practice exams? Read the entire vignette before any questions, read all of the questions 1st or somewhere in between? Not completely sure which way works best for me yet.

in practice exams i skim the info, then go straight to the first question. the info to answer the questions is typically in a paragraph or section of the vignette that corresponds to the numbered question (ie, the first paragraph is tied to the first question and the last paragraph/chart corresponds to the last question. BUT, in the exam, i will likely read the vignette a little more since i am a faster test taker and have timed myself on the mocks.

I agree skip, but I f***kin can’t stand the test structure

I have done the same Skip, but have found questions where I missed something because I was bouncing around. Getting worried that time will be an issue on this exam and wasnt at all in L1

I always read through it first and underline/circle important info so that I don’t miss it once I start answering questions. Seems to work well for me.

It’s advisable to read it end to end. Time is not a concern for this exam, so why play around. Read it full -> then read questions -> go back, plug & chug -> select ans -> Next.

I second reading it in full. Most of the time I can guess what 6/8 of the questions are going to be just based on the information presented. Plus, as I’m reading and people make “statements” about things I start placing checks and x’s by which ones are correct, etc.

^ I do that as well. Makes it much easier to answer the question when you anticipate what they’re going to ask, and gives you confidence that you are answering it correctly. Also, trying to fish around for info seems really inefficient to me and you’re probably likely to miss something important.
