was just wondering if practicing the item sets alone should be good enough for level 2 preparation?
Do you mean do only the EOC questions and not actually read anything? It’s a risky strategy but then again I opted for the no-CFAI, no-EOC method and passed L2 but wouldn’t recommend that to most people.
No i meant reading the curriculum and practicing the concepts through item-sets ONLY. Not the single-liner mcqs
If you have to chose between the two, the item sets are the way to go since they emulate the test-taking experience. But some of the “one-off” questions may be helpful to help learn LOS material not covered in the EOC item sets.
I do not understand how you can learn the material without actually doing all the questions on the material. Some of the material has not been worked into the item sets format in the CFAI book (many of the Corp Fin questions are like that) but they do bring home critical learnings on how the material can be presented, how they can give extra material not relevant to the question etc. So do not fool yourself by looking only for item sets in the material. (that is a form of trying to game the exam, and that does prove very costly).
