Can’t believe this idiot is still employed… oh wait nvm he works for ESPN
I was so excited to see him get demoted from MNF but ESPN outdid itself by hiring Gruden, someone just as utterly ridiculous as this dude. Every good play is the best he has ever seen in his life and every TD = a team playing like a well oiled machine
How can you possibly take anything coming from ESPN seriously anymore? The channel has become a complete joke… I think its time a new competitor stepped in with a real 24 hr sports analysis channel.
Not sure about higgmond, but I would 100% take Flacco. Flacco is 6 years his junior. Plus Brees is a little overrated.
Why do you call him Fluko anyway? 5 years in the NFL, 5 playoff appearances, at least one win in EACH year of the playoffs, 3 AFC championship appearances, a Super Bowl ring, and an MVP to boot.
Take a look at this years playoffs. 11 TDs with 0 interceptions. ZERO. Joe Montana is the only other QB to ever do that. 4 games without even one interception is hardly a fluke. Sounds like someone is a butthurt Steelers fan
Yes, if I needed a QB for this season I would take Flacco over Brees, and I’m a Steelers’ fan. Flacco plays to win championships, Brees plays to set personal records.
You cannot credit Flacco for the Ravens’ playoff record. They had the one of the most dominant defenses in the league (excluding last year).
Last year’s 11-0 TD/INT record by Flacco was phenomenal but the true hero for the Ravens in the playoffs was Boldin.
If playoff records were a good proxy for a QB’s eliteness then Eli should be top 3. He throw to Tyree in the '07 SB should be considered the greatest throw of all time but it’s not.
So the year in which they actually WON the SB, we can’t credit their defense. Their QB has a historical playoff run, but he doesn’t deserve any credit?
Flacco is now a top 5 QB, but I think the question of Flacco vs. Brees all depends on how the question is framed. If I want to win a SB tomorrow, I’d probably go with Brees. If I want to have a championship level team for the next 5+ years, I’ll take Flacco.
I think Flacco is a lot like Troy Aikman. Some people say, “You could have put Mark Sanchez on that Cowboys team in the 90’s and still won three Super Bowls.” Others say, “He didn’t care about individual stats. If his team won, then he was happy.”
There will never be a “right” or “wrong” answer. You can argue it until the day you die.
Plus, I think it’s difficult to compare quarterbacks in such different systems. EG - Aikman had Moose/Emmit, while Montana had Rice/Taylor/Jones. Of course one is going to run the ball more, and one is going to throw the ball more. Doesn’t necessarily make one QB better than the other.
Giants offense was not good last year and the team didn’t make the playoffs. It’s not like he ranked Eli 20th, he’s ranked 8th. With 2 SB wins, Eli is almost certainly HOF bound.
