I couldn’t make it through all the replies to this post, but I’d like to add: 1) People don’t go to great schools just because of their pedigree - the majority of students at elite schools earned it by being extremely smart, athletic, or talented in some other meaningful way (music, drama, community service, etc) 2) You can build your own pedigree - it’s not all about where your daddy went to school, but what you choose to do with your own talents 3) On average kids from elite schools are smarter than those from non-elite schools. I love hearing about all these “smart” kids from State U that COULD/WOULD dominate elite grads. The stats don’t back this up in any shape or form. When you look at a school like Harvard, the average SAT score is a good 400+ points higher than at State U; the average GPA is 1.0+ higher; the average list of extracurriculars and leadership experience is pages longer. There is simply no comparison.

Otherwise your point: 1. will be taken out of context 2. distilled and/or morphed to the coarsest/easiest one-liner or sentence fragment 3. he will peg you to it in a way that brings others onto his “team” 4. finally rally his team to “win”
