I have just finished my first read through Schweser, and I will start to review all the books again by tomorrow, I feel way late in my study plan according to a preset schedule for myself and most importantly compared to most of the guys here at Analyst Forum, What do you think is it possible to make a second review and solve exams in the remaining 3 weeks while I am working full time!! What would be your strategy if you were in my shoes?!! Thanks for any help…
I feel so much better all of a sudden.
Duh… I thought I was the last person on this forum to get done. Will be starting tests soon - no time fo review!
How’s the retention treating you? Your in good shape if you can remember everything.
I am exactly in the same boat as you are (just finished my first DETAIL read). I will go over copius notes I took during my review to see how much I retained. Then, if time permits, will take some tests.
Even I just finished my first reading from Schweser today. Feeling as if I am way too late…Can someone please suggest me strategy for the last 3 weeks. I am taking 2 weeks off from work to prepare. Do you think its sufficient to revise and answer sample papers. Any suggestions would be really helpful. I am relying entirely on schweser and its my first attempt…

why do people come on here and post this garbage… no one cares that you just finished your first read…

I also finished first reading today. I studied each reading from schweser twice n solved all EOC questions from schweser. Will start review now

My advice is, don’t even start reviewing Schweser until you’ve done a bunch of the IPS questions from the old CFA morning exams. IPS is too much exam weigh to not prioritize - you must get used to the format. The more you do, the better.

The more you do, the > better. Very valid piece of advice. In fact, I read, re-read and still reading randomly everything else except IPS. Whenever, I try to solve them they are so boring, not able to answer point-to-point and always end up seeing answers casually before attempting to answer them. Really difficult. Somehow, losing motivation in this area. But I thought let me get good grip on other areas. But today after seeing you suggestion, ofcourse, I knew it subconciously, for a moment I felt what I’m doing is wrong (due to your point higher wt). Thanks for your tip/warning. But would it be of use to simply read the question, not in a position to answer, and finally refer to answer. Will that help?
Everyone is different, but I have found with questions like the IPS types, the answers seem simple, but there is a lot of nuance. I know if I read one of those questions, then look at the answer (after just sort of thinking about what the answer should be, I’ll think: “Oh, yeah, that looks right… pretty easy…” and move on. If I instead actually try to write out full solutions, I’m finding I make little mistakes and miss items and then I really learn what’s what. Bottom line: The IPS is deceptive as it looks so easy, but has a lot of detail that, at least for me, only practice can teach. As for the rest of your review, you still have three weeks and as such can do quite a bit. I don’t know your schedule, but here are some review methods I am using during the final month, some of them you may like: Over the last week and half, I have read the full Schweser review again. This time I have moved faster (a study session a day) and I have made up over 200 cue cards. Each one has a relationship, or a list of information I want to memorize. For example, one card says “Portfolio Rebalancing Strategies” on one side, and on the other I have a diagram and some key points about buy & hold, constant mix and CPPI. Each day I am shuffling the cards and going through them. I pick up each card one-by-one, read the outside and then write down the relationship or whatever and then check it. If I get it wrong, I put those cards in a pile and then review those again. This is really helping me with my recall and I am constantly adding new cards as I discover little details I want to commit to memory. Practice exams: I have both books of Schweser exams, old CFAI exams and the CFAI mock. The next two weeks are devoted to working on them (with my daily card review). Some say the Schweser exams are too easy, but I find they are helpful. YMMV. The final week I am going to do one more quick read of Schweser (a book per day) and drill, drill, drill with my cards. I am taking the last two weeks off FWIW. Good Luck!!
