Just got called about a job...

As some may know I have received a new job in transfer pricing as a consultant at a big 4. I havent signed the contract yet though, its sitting infront of me. However I just got a call for a very different job as an investment analyst for an asset management firm that is focues in investing in companys with high financial leverage. Fund apparently has one of the strongest track records in europe in the field. I think I read there are 6 people on the investment team. So Im wondering if I should go for an interview with them. Its probably not something Id get as I dont really have any experience with this, and I do like TP… Anyone know what this sort of job would entail, if it owuld be itneresting etc?

wtf? Go interview! At least go try! “ You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” - Wayne Gretzky, Michael Scott, Michael Scott Paper Co.

Tell the company that you are VERY interested, but they need to rush the interview process as you are due for a decision on another offer.

Go for the interview, who knows what could happen. You don’t want to regret at least checking it out…

Accountancy or investment management… No contest.

Both jobs suck. Investment management is the biggest BS career in the history of man. Even the CFA Institute admits as such without exactly saying it. As far as how taking of the jobs go, since neither is remotely related, feel free to quit the new job if a better offer comes along–that firm would fire you in a heartbeat if it improved their NPV.

kkent, I sort of feel that way about investment management, but I guess im not even so sure what it is? It would be analysing bonds for funds I am guessing? Assessing performance and presenations for investors and such?
