Folks. I’m new here and I did search about this topic but couldn’t find much. I’m just wondering whether it’s worth spending $$$ on a prep course? I already have all 2013 schweser books.
everyone studies differently. But by taking a class, you are investing more $$, and you force yourself to study
The CFA is meant to be a self study course. With that being said, it depends on whether you think you have the commitment to stick to a schedule, and the capacity to learn semi-complicated material without someone spelling it out to you.
I actually avoided classes and bought Stalla/schweser vidoes instead. I just wanted to study acording to my schedule. Another advantage videos has it that you can repeat the same lecture numerous times.
Just giving you my two cents. It is your call at the end.
Takes classes helps in a way that they motivate you to study and follow a proper routine. Plus the specialised help from an instructor is a plus. But know that in the end, its your own self study that matters. I find that when I dont think I have enough time to cover everyting adequately, I avoid taking tuitions because my time is wasted when I still have to redo all the material on my own? Capiche? Good Luck.
I can not think of studying completely on my own without relying on tuition. I just cant imagine being that organised and completing my syllabus on time, leaving room for revision.
Also, I work full time. So there’s mostly no way on this planet that I’ll go home and study non stop for three hours. This is where I find tuitions to be really helpful. Three out of these five weekdays, I head to my class and I’m nearly always fresh and attentive. Unlike how lazy I get the moment I step back home after work. I have kept weekends as an empty slot this session to study on my own and spend time with my family. Iit has worked pretty well so far. Fingers crossed for the result though!
