I just took level 2 of the CFA last month, and am hopeful that I made the grade. Regardless, I definitely have a better understanding of the concepts taught under that exam. I also work in corporate derivative sales and have been for seven years. With that in mind, I was hoping to take the FRM to add some letters to my name (just joking, sort of)
What prep provider should I use? Can I do both parts at once? How many ballpark hours do you think it needs? I was batting about .600 on the questions on the level 1 website, without knowing what material would be tested (from CFA and work overlap).
I took Part 1 after passing CFA L2 and there is significant overlap between the exams.
I wold say150-200 hours should suffice. I used Schweser and never consulted GARP. I didn’t think I passed to be honest and that the exam was extremely difficult, but i did alright: Q1, Q2, Q1, Q2.
GARP writes a tough exam in both part. Nobody seems to be sure of passing the exam (at least not me or anybody that I know of But their passing marks are low. It is my guess that any pdy scoring 60% in part 1 and 55% in part 2 has a chance of making it. Though I may be completely wrong.
