Yeah, I honestly believe ~50% of the executives I’ve met in our industry fell back asswards into their role. It never ceases to amaze me to see which people get promoted into various positions across all different types of firms. I honestly don’t know how they do it. I’d say it was personality to make up for their obvious lack of intelligence, but most of them are about as interesting as wet cardboard. Yet somehow they keep moving up.
The last three minutes or so you didn’t see from TMZ is brilliant. Finally someone making the case for a different approach that transcends the demonize and divide game. Brilliant.
Before declaring Kanye woke, I’d consider the possibility that he lacks the basic knowledge necessary to hold an informed opinion here. For example, he didn’t know about the travel ban pre-supporting Trump. Not debating merits of said ban here, just saying the dude is not necessary as enlightened as some would think
You don’t have to be a policy expert, or even fully informed to be woke. The point is to be awakened to the first universal axiom of existence - that love is the abiding prime law of the universe. Kanye starts with this axiom and strives to integrate his every thought, feeling, and action with the prime universal truth. That is the definition of awakened.
Supporting a relatively unpopular president with no real appreciation for the good and bad that comes with him doesn’t make one woke…just uninformed, even if hopeful.
Supporting the idea of basic civility in society, of dialogue, isn’t an earth-shattering proposition. Though good for him for speaking out in that regard, and I’d hope he’s concretely acting on it beyond the attention-grabbing appearances.
Just think we shouldn’t conflate the two. Im not critical of him because he likes Trump. I’m critical of him because he’s claiming enlightenment, and victimhood because of said wokeness, when it seems to me he may not have given his statements much thought.
i don’t recall him ever saying he thought he was enlightened, or above anyone else in terms of understanding. if you have, please share.
This happens a lot. Most people dismiss the truth because of their assessment of the individual speaking that truth. They don’t have the ability to separate the idea from the individual. All Kanye is trying to do is get people to think about the basic driving intention behind everything they do. He is suggesting that unconditional love may be a better guiding principle to apply to one’s ideas and interactions with other people and that triggers people for any number of reasons. it’s an indication of the tremendous amount of work it will take to get the collective consciousness to evolve. right now, people are so entrenched in their beliefs that they are afraid to take a single honest look at the basic driving intention behind their thoughts, ideas, and treatment of others. People don’t want to honestly assess whether or not they are driven by love or absence of love (fear, hate, control, guilt, shame, etc.). That is the real reason people are lashing out at my man yeezy.
Meh, everyone claims some form of concerned neutrality but I don’t see this in depth motives analysis and research thoroughness anytime some Hollywood dip shit spouts off about a Trump policy.
