Pretty funny. Oliver’s got a point, Republicans like Mike Pence have no time for women being equal to men, and that will drive more and more educated and working women voters to the Dems. This doesn’t have to be a big number, an additional 5% might be enough to tip the balance in states like Michigan, Wiscon, and Flor.
I think the classmate from Yale is #2. I suspect more will come out, was reading that Tiger Mom Amy Chua a Yale Law prof used to tell her ladies interviewing for a job with BK to “dress for success”. He’s on the court now, so this will be a first.
IMO, Dems have a basic problem, which is that once firebrand college liberals graduate and go to work and get exposed to paying taxes, paying rent, have children who need to go to school, etc, they invariably move to the political center. Once taxes start, then it becomes clear everything cannot be free. If they have to work 50+ hours per week, so should other people, etc. Overall this is a good thing for the country, they retain their liberal values, but vote on economics which fractures the dem party. Contrast this with the people on the right. In college, they obsess over the three horseman of the right-wing apocalypse…inter-racial dating, reverse discrimination, free speech, etc. But after college instead of mellowing to the center, they get more extreme and target vulnerable groups our society says we can openly discriminate against, today that happens to be, mexicans, moslems, mormons, etc. It’s not a pretty picture, neither party seems to have any interest in reigning in the more extreme voices, so the tail will continue to wag the dog.
I don’t think that last one is accurate. I couldn’t find it reliably sourced anywhere other than a few bias rags that either used dead / fake links to source or vaguely claimed sources.
