This has become a highly partisan issue as demonstrated by the chart below. Few seem to care about the truth and so whatever the outcome, we all lose.

The average American has no clue of who is on the Supreme Court or even how the judiciary works. Suddenly they have an opinion because it happens to be what is on CNN right now. Every one of these hot topics has a life span before it decays from public memory. I’d give this one about 1 month. So, if Republicans settle the confirmation now, voters will forget the issue by the time they vote in November and focus on which party promises then a bigger handout.

When she testified before the Judiciary Committee last week about the alleged decades-old attack, Dr. Ford was asked if she had ever spoken to anyone beside her attorneys on how to take a lie-detector test.
“Never,” she said.
When asked if she had discussed with anyone tips on taking a polygraph, she said, “No.”
In seeking the lie-detector records, Mr. Grassley said that the committee had gotten a sworn statement from an unnamed former boyfriend of Dr. Ford.
The statement was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Dr. Ford’s lawyers didn’t respond to a request for comment.
The writer’s name was redacted. In the letter to the committee, the writer said that he dated Dr. Ford from 1992 to 1998, found her to be “truthful” and said he had no ill will toward her.
He wrote that she never told him she was a victim of sexual assault or mentioned Judge Kavanaugh’s name.
He said that while they were dating, Dr. Ford lived with a female friend. That person was interviewing for a federal job. The writer said he witnessed Dr. Ford help her friend prepare to take a lie-detector test.
Because of her background in psychology, the writer said, Dr. Ford was able to help her friend understand “what to expect, and how polygraphs worked,” putting her mind at ease about the forthcoming test.
In his letter, Sen. Grassley wrote that Dr. Ford’s testimony at the hearing “raises specific concerns about the reliability of her polygraph examination results. The Senate therefore needs this information.”

Meanwhile the American sheep argue, just as arranged. Ya’ll never learn.
I mean, there’s a reason why most Dems want an independent investigation that isn’t burdened with limitations imposed by the white house. One that looks to see if Kav/Ford lied in their testimony. A report that would look at things such as Ford’s history of trauma/corroborating evidence and one that would look to see if Kav did things like: lie about his drinking habits or his knowledge about the allegations against him. But also to give more time to release all of Kav’s documents during his time as a gov’t official, which again is necessary to make an informed vote for a lifetime appointment. Seems strange that Grassley is trying to both figure out if Ford lied during her testimony AND rush Kav’s appointment through. Especially when the same group of people refused to have a vote when Merrick Garland was nominated by Obama. There is no compelling reason why this seat needs to be filled so quickly that the FBI can’t have a full investigation in on this.
I think this whole thing may have been an elaborate set up by Kavanaugh to secure a lucrative pitchman contract with a beer co. Think about it.
He was shrewd not to name a favorite brand. Bid up his price.
Kavanaugh is disqualified just for being a shameless liar and broke ass cry-baby. Breaking into tears while recalling his father’s calendar habit…you’d think the father long passed, but NO he was sitting right behind him. WEAK. Even worse, he’s from the Trump school of fake tough guys – throwing ice on someone while sitting with two 6 foot 10 inch basketball players. What a douche, is this the best we can do?
