Hi All, So I just found out i Passed L1 Super happy about that and i just registered for L2 and I am ready to get into it! all the NEW L3ers can you please post what you think the best way to study for L2 is? also what are the best study notes you found to be helpful. Thanks,
L1 > L2 in sheer level of easiness
welcome to horrendous world of vignettes, dark topics and stuff piled on top of more stuff.
Start early and work hard. The material is long and involved, but not all that tough. Trying to remember everything for June 2, 2012 is really tough. My best advice is to set up a through study plan.
hahahahaha @ the subject line.
“hahahahaha @ the subject line.” pretty sure he was using it as an arrow, not a inequality sign…like L1 —> L2.
Im not saying he wasnt. Its still funny though.
haha yea didn’t really think the subject line through, what study notes do people recommend? Also did people find that being a “CFA level 2 candidate” helped them get a better job? currently I found my self only being able to get jobs in back office roles but now that i passed level one I hoping the jobs i can get are better. To Reference is the CFA designation in accordance with to the code of ethics is “CFA Level 2 candidate” on my resume ok? and DSquaredSlim thanks for confirming that
As you just registered, one of the 2 references would be possible : * “I am 2012 Level II CFA Candidate” Or *Level II candidate in the CFA Program. I don’t think passing level I opens doors in the industry (if you are not in already). But in your case, did your employer aware of your commitment to CFA Program ? Let them know, it could be a positive sign to move from Back to middle and after front office. Good luck
Yes I registered the day after i got my results (today), I am currently unemployed but have 5 Plus years in back office/corporate actions experience and want to break into middle/front office. Could I use “CFA level II Candidate” would that be a correct reference?
Yes !
No sorry the correct reference is “2012 Level II candidate in the CFA program” Can’t use CFA as an adjective And you have to state the year you’re taking it.
i just passed level 2, so im still not sure whether job opportunities are better, i did get an email today from a recruiting company asking for my new CV, but the job offer got withdrawn after an hour. however i believe if you dont already have a sold footing in the industry, passing level 2 in itself will not do it. I am yet to find someone who has landed a job just because he passed level 2, or even level 3 for that matter. nothing beats networking.
Please refere to page 146 and 148 of Volume 1, “refering to candidacy in the CFA program”. It’s correct to state that you are “Level II candidate in the CFA Program” as long as you are registered for the program and enrolled to sit for the exam. The date is very important if you put this kind of sentence “Passed Level I of the CFA examination in 2011”.
Yes but you can’t say ‘CFA Level II candidate’. I thought that year must be mentioned. I read this article on CFA webpage on how to add that to your linkedin profile and they said you must put in the date.

But does passing level I open doors to at least networking within your CFA society? I also heard of a guy who found a job via the platform of his cfa society. But hey could be an urban legend. In any case, this market is terrible as it is.
use CFAI curriculum for FSA and Equity, and third party providers for other subjects. Finish all the EOCs(at least multiple questions), and several mock exams will do.
