L2 Nov exam feedback

Just curious how you all experienced the level II exam. In short I can say it was harder then i had expected! In many cases I completely understood the question and was thinking about the possible answers as given in the textbooks but none of the answers matched. So in most questions there was some sort of twist making sure that just learning and not understanding the material would not make you pass. Some of the questions with calculations were also not as expected. I plugged in the numbers, but none of the answers matched. Like calculating the VaR of a portfolio with 2 stocks but they didnt give the correlation between the stocks… And finally one more remark that many questions seemed poorly formulated. The question was not completely clear, or some of the answers were too open for discussion. In a normal test this is not a problem because you can write your answer and explain why, but when you have multiple choice you have to pick one. This I already came across in doing older exams (Schweser practise exams) where you read the official answer and think “thats true but…” and then they dont explain why the other answers are wrong. But in 6 weeks we will see how it really went. Time for relaxation now!

eric468, Did you pass the November exam? I took the May Level 2 exam last weekend and have very similar feedback. I’m hoping that they take into consideration broadly lower marks due to poor questions… HF

I wrote the FRM at the weekend and found L2 quite a bit more difficult than L1. GARP grades the exam on a curve, so if the average grade is low, then the grade you need to pass will be lower as well.

When i wrote the exam i had the same in mind; the test was so hard that i guess you already pass with 50% correctly answered. (had a bad feeling, passed anyways)

had the same feeling but passed in Nov’10
