L3 Candidate Pay

I know its kinda not definable but can you still give some broad ranges? In your country, what would someone with only L2 but not much work-ex to talk about get paid in ER, Fixed Income research and wealth management? I know the range will be very broad but lets have some numbers going

Work exp is imp IMO, without that it might be around 75K, with 3-4 years work exp 100K. on a more serious note… I did mention in my previous fidelity post that I was offered 300K at fidelity, if thats where you are going than don’t worry about work exp.

$0-$1,000,000 broad enough?

Jr analyst is anywhere from $70k at chop shops to $250k; seems to be an approximate high end not including any sort of bonus for an amazing year. Cost of living adjustments need to be made of course. I’ve heard $300k in NY is not uncommon. Here in the midewest it’s obviously less.

what exactly is a chop shop ??

That or just a place that wants to burn through employees. Generally they don’t find them (the employees) valuable enough to pay well and don’t care when they leave because they are believed to be easily replaceable. In my experience, the firms that pay better for the same position are the ones that want to attract good talent and groom them for more advanced positions.

I think it’s fair to say $300k for a L3 candidate with limited experience is uncommon in NY and everywhere else on this planet. Not unheard of obviously, but that would be a high 90’s percentile I would imagine. Remember a lot of L3 candidates are back office staff, IT, engineers, just finished undergrad and even out of work. Median salary would have to be 5 figures I would guess.

70-100K if they are working on finance (buy and sell side and not in Alt Investments) and are between the age of 22-27. Senior members make more.

I’d say 90th %tile is about right (think GS). It was the high end estimate after all. But five figures for the median range? No way. Now I’m talking about a jr analyst position, not what the median pay for a L3 candidate is. Frankly, I don’t think being a L3 candidate has anything to do with your pay other than it could help you get an interview for a job as a jr analyst. I know what jr analysts make at the two major firms here in Kansas City and both are north of $100k.

Why not start a salary/age/work exp thread on L3 forum?

Bonus is tentative and depends on the performance of an individual/dept/company etc.

I was curious, because I’ve never been to Kansas City. American Century Investment Analyst Salary: http://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/American-Century-Investment-Analyst-Salaries-E6668_D_KO17,35.htm It says about $125k all in for an investment analyst. I’m not sure how they break out titles there, but I assume that is above a junior analyst. The $70-100k range for a junior analyst (I’m thinking right out of college) actually seems a little high by comparison. Couldn’t find any good data for SunAmerica, which is probably the other major firm? Like I said, no real idea about Kansas City. I’ve been to St. Louis once though…good ribs/beer/blues. Keep in mind: two things guys are most like to lie about is amount of salary and number of women with whom they’ve slept.

i’m pretty certain in toronto with 3-4 years experience and “research associate” you’d expect 65k + bonus of 10-20%. so i think 70k USD for a non-NYC job is reasonable. probably north of 100k if in NYC.
