L3 seems a lot shorter than L2

Does anyone else get that impression?

yes but heard it is almost 2 times tougher than L2.

It’s shorter than L2 and 1/64 th as quantitative. The exam becomes tough for it’s very subjective and ambiguous nature. Just hope we PASS Aug 2010 and never have to look back again.

Far less quantitative than LI or LII, that’s for sure. I guess it makes it a bit harder as you have to actually understand the material, not just know how to number crunch and recall facts. Obviously I can’t be certain until after June, but I have a feeling this is going to be the hardest level to pass.

I am not looking forward to this test…the material isnt difficult to wrap your head around, but there are so many lists to memorize and qualitative relationships to make, it is making my head spin. I will be very glad if I can get past this level :stuck_out_tongue: Best, TheChad

Less material but much more qualitative. I find myself taking way more notes over this stuff thank over L1 or L2.

Same here. I’ve gone through a one subject notebook already, and I’ve only gone through 3 full study sessions. Put your head down and get it done guys. We’re almost done. Just think how awesome it will be to never have to sacrifice another spring season to a CFA exam ever again!

That’s interesting. I actually find myself taking fewer notes compared to L2. L3 just seems more intuitive while L2 was full of random stupid details that are impossible to deduce without memorizing the text. Of course, I might fail and be proven wrong…

I’ve been flying through the texts. I think once I’ve gone through once, I’ll study my notes for awhile and try to memorize the hundreds of definitions we have to know, then pass through the texts again. There were definitely sections of the L2 material that I had to go through several times before I caught on…that doesn’t seem to be the case here, but I am not doubting the difficulty of identifying all the concepts in the morning section. Four more months…

How far through are you guys, it sounds as though you’ve already done a couple of books? I am still on wealth management!

I’m finishing up SS 11 (skipped Ethics), so I guess I’m about halfway through (using Schweser). I’m saving the CFAI EOC questions for my second pass, so that’s one reason that I’m moving quickly.

Going to start SS9 today. Same as Steph, haven’t done EOC CFAI yet but in second pass for sure.

The CFAI EOCs take longer to finish than the readings themselves.

I think schweser is shorter, but CFAI seems about the same. Asset Allocation is like 30 pages in Schweser and 130 in CFAI to give one example. Yeah, I’ve been doing the EOCs in both Schweser and CFA and they definitely take some muscle.

Shorter but packs a much harder punch.

Seriously, you might want to consider doing the CFAI end of chapter questions as you go. There’s PLENTY of time to do them now, forget everything you learned, and then do them again three months from now, and you’ll probably do a bunch of them a third time. Repetition is the mother of learning.

Let’s not forget about doing the old exam essays too…

I am reading the CFA text and doing both the CFA and Schweser EOC’s. I have completed SS 3 - 9. Don’t let the length of the material or the more pleasant nature of the readings fool you. Level 3 is a difficult exam that deserves to be taken seriously. Last year I was overconfident and failed with flying colors.
