I am not out of Depression yet for having failed L2 in 09. Though I though I was well prepared was scoring in high 70s in mock exams, I failed in Band 2. Something seriously had gone wrong. I have not been able to find out what went wrong. Still trying to bring some motivation back. I am going to start today again. I need all your support and motivation.
Good luck Amit! Its time to set aside all those baggages from 09 and you will do just fine this time around. I prepared well for 09 exams and failed miserably. There are several guys in this forum who were well prepared and deserved a passing score, but some how they failed. I am changing my strategy this year, I didn’t refer CFAI books at all last year. This time, I am using CFAI books and will be using practice exams from schweser.

Did you practise CFAI Chapter End Questions ? This is because its the language of CFA that is very important.
I know, I did not do EOC or CFAI texts … but i thought I was doing quite ok on mocks and expected a border line failed if I really failed…but Band 2 was disheartening… I do not know where i could have messed up, but I will surely do EOC questions this time. What else can I do to figure out the right study strategy. Right now, if I look back I have almost forgotten the names of those subjects, just forget abt remembering the valuation models. The biggest problem with me that I understand was lack of practice.

Sorry to break it to you pal, but i think you have overestimated yr grasp/undestranding of the curriculum. Do not passive read the CFAI text. Failing band 2 is a big screw-up,shows you have serious lack of command over the core body of knowledge. Snap out of it and hit the books again. We want winners her, not pickers.

I am not telling you to read CFAI just do EOC. As you have already said that you were doing well in mocks. So you had decent amount of practice. IMHO you need to solidify the basics as CFA exams test basics more deeply than mocks/Scheweser. For example try to solve EOC for Quant - Chapter 1, you will know what I am saying.
You are not alone… I passed L1 in Dec 08 and I felt invinsible going into L2 but only to have my a$$ handed to me on platter. It has been almost a month now and I can’t find that mojo that I had in early '09. It helped to find a place of solitude away from any distractors (i.e. library). As for EOC questions or CFAI text, I did not discover there value until it was too late. I will spend much less time on the qbank and notes this year.
Thanks for support guys. I am going to work on my strategy this year. Happy Studying!!

Yeah, picking up the (essentially) same books sucks rocks (I had to do it 3 times.) But ask yourself if you want to obtain the charter. If the answer is “yes” then ask yourself what your alternatives are to picking up the books again. There are none, so suck it up and do it. Take comfort in the fact that you have a head start with the material and format. You have a nice advantage of having taking it once before - treat the fail as an advantage, not a obstacle. Good luck. You can do it.

Hi Brave Ones, this is why i like this place…! confess that this landing on the new world of L2 has not been as smooth as I thought…even do I am an humble guy I knew by worth of mouth that this is THE level… well, like you said…what are the alternatives…reject words in my mind as fear and all that negative stuff that gravitates around so easily when you simply find lost in the middle of new readings or hard problems. good luck to “repeaters” and in fact they do have an advantage…so just leverage on it and do an educated practice with lots of attention to the solutions/explanations for answers in mocks, samples… hasta & “post positive”! t
