I love the skoal comment. I have been on an apple skoal kick since the start of the month for no reason other than this dang exam…CFA is bad for your health.
I quit for many many years…until CFA. Bad Squirrel…bad CFA. That said, its like bumping into an old good friend.
its 4:12am here now and I am just going to bed… I feel you bud…
I go to sleep every day at 3.30am 4am and wake up at 6am to go to work… I just worder if at the end of all three levels I will still hairs on my head.

Some of you guys are ridiculous. Say you work 12 hours a day, 5 days a week… 7 AM to 7 PM. Wake your lazy butt up on Saturday morning, say at 9AM, and put in a solid 8 hour day of studying every Saturday. Close up shop around 6, go have some drinks or whatever. Wake up Sunday Morning, go to church, have some lunch, start studying at like 1PM. Break for some dinner around 7, have a beer, study a couple more hours from 8 to 10. Then every weekday, study for 90 minutes. Boom, you just put in about 24 hours of studying in a week, you can go out on Friday and Saturday night and still get ~8 hours of sleep per night. Do that for two months (9 weeks) and take two study-days off before your exam, boom you just put in 240 hours of studying without losing any sleep, and you should pass the thing.
Man you guys are making me feel guilty. I only work 9 to 5…and can still sometimes get an hour or two of studying in while at work. Its a little worrying because I hope to have a more demanding position when I’m doing later levels and I’m already dreading it! Oh well who knows how hard a man can work when he’s backed into a corner huh?

And Boom…you will bomb the exam!

I see your point but a lot of people have family obligations, a long commute, work on the weekends, plus other factors, not to mention 240 hours is on the low side for level 2 and 3. But i do see your point. Until last week when I decided to really crank it up, I have been getting 8 hours of sleep per night.
i don’t see his point at all. his schedule is a recipe for total lack of confidence when you take the exam, and little long term benefit even if you manage to scrape through via luck. only way it can work is if you’re a genius, and learn really really quickly, can switch on your concentration with a finger snap for a crisp 90 min session on demand, everyday. L2 and L3 CFA really need 400-500 hrs of prep to do right. the 250 hrs thing is a total underestimate.
Oh I know this feeling all too well!
Wow, the scarring and brain damage must have healed over the last 10 months of not studying for these stupid exams – I forgot how miserable the experience is. Good luck guys, two more months to go.
Oh, and add me into the book destroying crowd. If your books aren’t half mutilated from trips across the room, beating them into the desk, and filled with pen puncture wounds, you aren’t trying hard enough… those steps are critical for going 3/3.
Yah, L2 is definitely the worst. L3 is far more qualitative and (I think) easier…I kind of feel like the 50% pass rate on L3 could be solely due to language barriers on the short answer composition. L2 just sucks.

Weekends are your key time. A couple of hours in the night. One hour lunch time in a meeting room. A few sneaky questions while at work during the day. Plug in formulas in excel and play around with them. Copy some pages and look like you are doing work. You’ll accrue those hours. And don’t say you can’t do sneaky things at work if you’re posting on this forum.
