What’s the procedure at your shops? Instant gardening leave or do places make you work your notice?

My shop seems to be 50/50 although the most shocking thing for me is how some people treat the person who is leaving. Once the final decision has been made they’re basically dead to them. Tends to be the older people in the organisation that respond like that.

At my company, you’re supposed to work for some period to transition responsibilities. However, if the manager doesn’t enforce it, no one cares that much.
