Anyone know about growing plants using LED? My friend has a patent pending on an LED light that could grow at the same rate for 1/3 of the energy. This could revolutionize the industry. He has already made proof of concept and is starting the first round of investments at a $5 million dollar valuation. I think the company is worth a bit more than that but until the patent clears I have yet to make some calls. Anyone know this industry?
To be exact, he is starting with lettuce with a 30 day seed to harvest time and stacking them indoors 8 high.
sounds pretty cool. i know nothing of this industry. would love to hear more.
Interesting, but are you sure that lettuce is the most profitable application for this indoor planting technology?
Here’s a wiki article for those interested https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grow_light
Maybe check out the hydrophonic forums. Best of luck to him, would be interested in how the light accomplishes that.
Why lettuce, why not Kale? That’s what the cool kids eat.
Probably the easiest to grow with the quickiest harvest times
yea I was thinking the same, why not give this guy a call and get some seeds…
although I know fk-all about farming, I would go for somethign like wasabi where you could really sew up the market.

And what did YOU have in mind? I think I can guess, but perhaps it IS kale or wasabi.
