Cool, I live in Irvine and just moved to the area a few months ago. I was considering joining the CFA society as well here in the OC but haven’t pulled the trigger yet because I’ve been so busy. I work at a hedge fund out here that purchases distressed debt and also do part-time law school so I might sit out the L3 this year and take it next year. I’m signed up for it but haven’t really decided yet so we’ll see…
Sound really interesting - the distressed debt & law, I did commercial banking for 10 years…now I am in Aliso Viejo, my husband works in Irvine … I am right now in a whirl-wind… 2-month old twins… I met with of the board members of the local society here and will definitely apply. By the way, I know of 1 person interested in the study group for L3, do you want me to put you two together?

I’m interested. I’m going to be moving to Orange soon. If we do get together to study, how would the format work? I can’t imagine study groups being very useful until we’ve all gone through the material at least once. Otherwise we’ll all be on different schedules.
Hi, where will you be living? This is my second attempt… I did a study group in Oregon, basically we covered assigned number of study sessions for each meeting and went through learning outcomes - each person “answered” the LOS (we took turns) and then we covered any questions relating to exercises… I am however open to any other system. Sometimes in was only two of us, 4 people met regularly…The motivating factor was huge… I live in Aliso Viejo, I guess I would be willing to come to Irvine, but not futher North than that…though we could discuss
When are you gonna start studying? I’m prob gonna start in Sep or Oct. How often did you guys meet up? I would be willing to meet up in Irvine.
We met once a week, later on (2 month before the exam) often twice a week as were were “behind” the schedule. I am ok to start whenever, I will just be gone the whole month of December…
