Level III Distance learning - Essay help

Hi there,

This is my first post on here, although I have been reading this forum for a few years, so please go easy on me.

I am a Level III candidate for the '13 exam and I am slightly concerned about the preparation I can do for the essay part of the exam. I am using only the CFA institute syllabus books without any additional training providers support although I will probably purchase mock exams towards the end of the studying period (this approach worked for me for LII).

My concern centres around how I can judge how on track my essay writing is when I am self tutoring in effect. Does anyone who has/is using a similar method of study have any advice on this?

Good to know there are others in the same situation, hopefully some bright spark can give us some points as to the best way of keeping track of essay work!
