LIII Structure

To those of you who hit the books immediately upon learning you passed LII, I envy you. My efforts started this week towards LIII. Unfortunately, the CFA institute website does not provide much detail on the breakdown of questions between the morning’s written section and the afternoon’s problem set multiple choice questions. Can anyone provide some detail as to what topics we should expect in the written AM section? Really - anything on the structure would be nice. Thanks for the help and I look forward to sharing some quality time with everyone on the forum. I am a bit freaked at the structural change in the exam…just when I was getting comfortable.

I think Schweser Notes can give you some tips about in which section these materials are expected appear.

Basically any topic area is fair game in either the morning and afternoon. The exception is ethics which is traditionally tested in item set format. GIPS use to be solely a/m, but since 2007, it has been tested via multiple choice - and GIPS item set is sure ugly - know all calculations, requirements, etc. You’ll notice a pattern though from prior years. Expect to do at least one (but more than likely >1) individual and one institutional IPS and asset allocation question in the AM - that means identifying/constructing the RR LTTRU. What you’ll typically see is synthesis… i.e. one question set could pull from multiple study sessions. L3 is a thinking exam and time is your enemy!
