London > NYC

I literally have no idea what you’re on about. My only point here is that the spike in violent crime isn’t due to the small uptick in immigration following the migrants crisis. A lot of Americans seem to think that’s the case.

LOL - IS THIS YOU?

USA Police Shootings - 2018

71 police shot.

UK Police Shootings - 2018

0 police shot.

That’s not true at all. Legal firearms are rare in NYC but illegal firearm ownership is very prevalent and the gun laws in NYC are nearly identical to those of Chicago (which has an inflow from Illinois) which by that logic apparently has no guns… If you live in NYC the only thing stopping you from driving an hour outside the city and buying a gun to bring back to the city is self-restraint. In the same vein there are no assault wepaons in Mexico due to being illegal (70% come from US).

Funny you mentioned this. There was some article I read about people in this town not being able to sell their houses because of the name. I didn’t even pick up on why the name was bad, until I thought about it hard. The British, amiright?

Exactly what someone losing a debate would say.

OK grandpa, if you’re going to make fun of my age demographic the least you could do is spell “Starter-pack” correctly.

Maybe he meant starer-pack.

If we’re debating grammar, kill doesn’t semantically entail agency. If you said guns don’t _ murder _ people, then you would be making a true statement.

Another thread ruined by resident bell end.

^Meh, this is just “USA Gun Violence” thread Pt. 2 featuring all the same posters.

I guess it takes one to know one. Classic Brit, always ready to jump in and tell everyone how much greater they are, but gets butt hurt and storms off when the tables are turned. You guys should really “engage with reality and fix your f*cking knife laws”, London’s basically a third world country over there. Prayers.

Right, they should probably legalize guns over there. I mean, people are just going to kill each other with knives anyway, so why make it harder for them to kill multiple people at the same time?

guns are not volitional beings. they can’t act. therefore they cannot initiate an action or have an action attributed to them. this is simple logic that many don’t understand…with disastrous consequences.

Guns do kill people.

UK leads the developed world in sexual assaults and violent crime and now London beats NYC in murders. Shootings already occur over there with illegally owned guns. Might as well level the playing field for defense. God made man, Sam Colt made them equal.

But maybe if they just ban knives the problem will go away.

willful ignorance. the downfall of civilized society.

Right, legalizing guns will only help the good guys defend themselves. Surely it wouldn’t also increase the murder rate.

Well the evidence suggests banning them didn’t cause it decline.

This is classic observable bias. When it’s any other tool (say a knife or a car) you throw out the illegitimate uses and only concentrate on the legitimate ones in order to justify keeping them. With a gun, you throw out the legitimate use (a tool for self defense) and only focus on the illegitimate use in order to justify getting rid of them.

Problems cannot be solved when we dwell in false dualities.
