I’ve been offered a position with a firm (which is a BB) to move to London in a senior analyst role. I know typical analyst salaries in the US but I’m not sure how to gauge what would be typical from a base perspective in London. Having been to London and seeing both how expensive everything is especially rent…I would think that anything less than 120k lbs would not be worth taking. Should my expectations be higher or they already inflated?
What is a BB? Is that somewhere between a B and C cup?
Bulge Bracket…R U new here?
I must be, since I haven’t heard any company called a “bulge bracket” since 2006.
So you have been out of work for that long? That must suck. That was pre down-turn.
It depends on what type of job it is. I couldn’t say for CorpFin/M&A but in Capital Markets (FO gigs) you’d probably earn anything between GBP 50K and GBP 60K. These quotes are pre crisis and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were trying to get you on the cheap, ie lower end of the range mentioned which is obviously for base salary. Rent is expensive but it’s way better than two years ago when you really bled your salary away. Overall, life is not that expensive if you ask me BUT the british pound being worth sxxx it does put you at a disadvantage should you wish to spend your cash abroad (or plan to go back to the states with your savings).
bouh22, USD is worth sxxx too
“I will require a salary of at least 120,000 lbs for this senior financial analyst role.”
I was in the UK recently, and although it felt a bit expensive (as expected), I did find myself grateful that the Pound is one of the few other currencies that has been as “pounded” as the Dollar.
