London study group Level 2 2013

Hi guys,

I’m sitting Level 2 in June. Let me know if anyone wants to get a study group together. It’s a bit early but it would be good to know if anyone is interested. I’ll be starting sometime in January.

Happy christmas/kwanza/holidays/whatever!!

Hi there,

I would be interested in a London study group - I am a retaker and feel that it would definitely be helpful to have a group where we can dicuss problem areas. Where are you based? Maybe we could work out a study schedule and then meet weekly to go through the study sessions that we have covered?

Also, are you studying from the CFAI texts or planning on using thrid party materials? I am in two minds at the moment but leaning towards Schweser ans maybe QBank or practice questions from Finquiz.

S

Hi All,

Can I join your crew too? I’ll start studying in January and will be using the Schweser material, Qbank…and plan on getting the Elan guides mocks nearer to the time…

Happy for us to arrange a schedule and meet up on the regs…

I work in Canary Wharf, but live in Croydon…can meet anywhere up town if you prefer.

Hey

First shot at level 2 and i’m starting my studying tonight, most likely going to use the CFAI books, but have the Schweser 2012 books which I may use as well (curriculum sound pretty similar to last year according to elan guides).

I work in Canary Wharf and live in SE - but study quite a lot at LSE library. In truth it’s mainly the peer pressure element to not fall behind that i’m keen for, but happy to participate however it turns out…

Hey guys, I work in the West End but live in SE (one stop away from Canary Wharf). Where is the LSE library and is it open to non students? Sounds like somewhere in the Canary Wharf area would be ideal for all of us? I can do evenings and/or weekend meetings - maybe we should start in January when everyone has begun studying?

Rtcol are you palnning on studying in order of study sessions? Would be helpful if we have all covered a session and then meet to dicuss it?

LSE Library is free and open to members of the public, you just have to register and go there one day to pick up your pass while the front desk is open. I like it as it’s central (5 mins from Holborn or Mansion House), open til midnight and removes the distractions of home.

I’m going to study in order, that way I can’t ignore a topic til the end… Started last night - 44 pages down, only 2873 to go!!

I’ll start in Jan, probably pick up the Schweser L2 books sometime next week on Ebay. LSE libary sound ideal! I was looking for somewhere that stayed open till late.

Ditto re the peer pressure element.

Shall we say a meet up in the 2 week of Jan at the LSE library on a Saturday? That should have given us some time to get the books and knock out a few pages of quant.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your responses!

Second week in January is good for me and I’ve been studying in the LSE library for a while so that also works for me. But open to other suggestions. The LSE library is closed April - June for non-students but we have plenty of time to sort something else out.

Ah yes, peer pressure, it gets things done!

Hi guys

Second week in Jan@LSE is perfect.

We should determine a meet up spot to identify one another.

Hi guys,

Second week in Jan at LSE library sounds good to me too. Think we could meet for a couple hours and discuss any sessions covered up to then and possibly work out a strategy for the study group - weekly meetings, etc?

Hope the studying is going well for everyone who has begun! I think I need some peer pressure to get me going!

So how about the 12/13th of January in the LSE? There are plenty of places we can meet before to discuss tactics. I’m guessing it will probably be Starbucks! Do you want to set a day now, or just leave it closer to the time? I’d prefer to leave it. I’ve no idea what I’ll be up to yet.

Aerodynamik, those dates are fine with me. Is there anyone who has a different date in mind? Let’s know so we can conclude. I suggest we meet a week before any agreed date to discus strategy and agree on a structure. BPP at Waterloo is a great meeting point. We could utilize the cafeteria or an unoccupied classroom.

Meet a week before any agree date? I don’t quite understand reason behind that. I propose; Saturday 12th Jan at 10am in the LSE Library, ground floor. Look out for the incredibly handsome guy, that will be me. I would have completed most of my quant study by that time.

I agree with pokim - meeting a week before to discuss strategy and structure sounds counter productive. Would it not be easier to just do that on the first the 12th Jan when we meet at LSE? I hope to have been through econ and started quant by then.

Yeah I’d prefer just to meet up on the day and have a chat before. It shouldn’t take too long. I’ll e starting with quants.

Sounds good to me - Though having done nothing since I so boldly announced my start in Nov I’m still reviewing ethics. Happy to be forced to catch up though!!

I’ll be there on Sat but as I play football on Sat afternoons it’s likely i’ll be there to discuss strategy and then maybe do a little bit of study before I have to run.

See you all then

See you at LSE Library, ground floor on Jan 12@10AM.

Hi, i’m a retaker and would like to join as well. I will also be at the LSE libaray at 10 pm 12 Jan. See you all.

Looks like we’ve got quite a crew!

Just for clarity’s sake, do you want to meet at the entrance, before you go throught the turnstiles, in the seating area to the right?
