losing confidence.

for some reason i dont feel as confident for the exam as i was 1.5 Months back when i had first started preparing. All these days all i could accomplish is skimming through the 80% of the material (schweser). But level 2 is so intense- there is lot to remeber, lot to practice and all these have to be finished 1 month before the exam(to save last month for mocks). Which means only a little less than 1.5 months is left. I havnt practice one question from schweser forget cfa institute books. The breadth of the material yet to be studied and work stress is making me more moody every day which results in me arguing with parents over stupid things. Feel completely lost. Have absolutely no idea how to go forward with right mindset.

You can always quit and work at a local call center.

How’s that for motivation?

I feel you man. I was more confident myself a month ago thinking that the degree of difficulty wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. But the breath of the material is immense and doubts have started to creep in. Remember though that he majority of ppl feel the same way eg stressed, overwhelmed, discouraged. The fact that it’s not just you should provide some comfort. Also when you’re grindin it out you gotta rely on the reason why you’re pursuing the CFA. I wrote out my reason and place it front of me everyday. So after feeling sorry for myself, I look at it and start stuyding again.

Or you can take the Frog’s advice. Godd luck

Thanks itera and bachatero. I understand what you are trying to get at. But i want to know are there many people who still pulled it off with very less time remaining? Is it possible to be comfortably prepared for the exam given the time that is left?

“Stick with it” --> 3 words I tell myself when I lose confidence and am stressed, moody, and lost. I finished the Schweser readings and am reviewing by doing all the CFAI EOCs. If I remember 20% of what I’m looking at, it’s a miracle. Point is, get through the readings and move on to questions and mocks ASAP. That’s when you’ll start absorbing. Every single candidate went through the whole “how am I going to remember all this” stage. I believe the ones that stick with it until test day are the ones that are most likely to pass.

Taking time each week to review the material and do problems along the way has boosted my confidence. - It’s hard to prioritize reviewing without panicking that I might not have enough time to go through all the topics but it’s less stressful (to me) than spending weeks reading and hoping that somehow I’ll have time to “learn” everything closer to the exam. For myself personally, it’s a waste of time to read all of the sessions first when I can’t even remember what I yesterday much less do a single problem, which ultimately is the only thing that matters. Plus, some of the information overlaps from session to session, so I’m finding that new readings less difficult. … Very few of us will be “comfortably” prepared for the exam when we sit for it.

I am also at that stage. I do not know HOW I can POSSIBLY remember everything… it’s pretty depressing. By mid-april I will have wrapped up all the questions, and start hitting the mocks. But seriously, there is simply too much to be able to be comfortable at all. I seriously doubt that an additional month would make any difference. A human brain can only absorb so much.

Just remember on exam day, if you don’t know the correct answer, bubble-in “C”

for CFA!

They made the material so vast and difficult to see which candidates want it? I’ve given up my KIDS, MY WIFE, MY DOG, MY FRIENDS, MY MISTRESS, MY SECOND MISTRESS for this exam!

LMao!!!

Honestly, it makes it so much easier to understand the material rather than remember it.

But you have to actually find it interesting.

^Definitely.

Some topics are easier than others because of that. I find equity and portfolio mgmt interesting. FRA: kill me now.

If no clue, don’t bubble in C, CFAI has already caught on.

B is the new C

I just match the one above. Anyone else notice an unusual amount of repeated response strings in the EoCs? ‘A’, ‘A’, ‘A’, then an easy question thats ‘B’ before going back to ‘A’. I assume they do it to fuck with us.

Or its just more common since theres only three possibilities. Ill assume conspiracy.

Sure. I still have to pull the H-multistage valuation formula out of my ass when it is demanded though. Understanding or not, you better be able to remember it.

That’s serious motivation

You could be trying doing this with a wife and two small kids! Do it while you live with your parents and don’t worry they will get over you arguing with them.

Keep trucking…

No one feels entirely confident going into the exam – or leaving the exam.

I am feeling exactly the same as you at this point. The sheer volume of material is overwhelming, but we will get through it! Keep your head up high.

Hi,

For motivation check out the salary heading in the article below- hope this is motivational enough…

Good luck and happy studying

I didn’t know anyone that left L2 feeling good about it

If you want it you’ll do it. Anything can be done in this world, you just can’t let things get you down. I had a break down after studying 60+ hours on FRA then taking topics based exams on the CFA site… I was getting 33% 50% on these… I said, what ever at least I can try and focus on passing the rest of the exam and hope that with review and more practice i will understand FRA and be able to get through it… . Ididn’t give up I just continued with mys chedule and am continuing … I studying the CFA to help me get a job in finance… just the other day I GOT A JOB IN FINANCE… I’m stil not stoppin because i Know the value and respect this test has… Please do me a favor, read what I am saying and continue to do it!!! it’s not impossible it’s just understanding that you need to WORK to pass not expect it to be feed to you.

You have to make sure you “get into the material” you still have 2.5 months left til the exam… you can study 2 hours a night every night and 10+ hours on the weekend… that is plenty of time (10 weeks left and 30 hours a week = 300 hours) , but the thing is… is that what you want to do?

I would rub your back and tell you it’s okay but that is not how this test works… it’s up to you and your motivation to do it… if you don’t have the right mind set maybe use my example of landing a job the other day as motivation… or my example of failing miserably on practice test for FRA or others who taken this exam multiple times after failling… or others who aren’t fortunate enough to take this exam or others who failed level 1 the first time or others who signed up and are unable to take it… you are in a good spot and realize that stop being down on your self and get up… others are in the same boat.
