Losing it

After dedicating number of hours and consistent hard work, I am losing hopes as I am unable to score high in practise exam ( Exam 2 AM - 68%). Retaker with 10 Band score, failed miserably in Ethics in June 2008. Despite giving everything I can to enhance understanding of Ethics application, I am still failing it. I dont know what it requires but It seems that either I am dumb or old enough to retain stuff. But one thing i know that this will be my last try.

68 on the real thing will be a pass

I can relate. I am a re-taker and am finding this time much harder for some reason. I am trying to keep my nose in the books and doing as many questions as possible but am struggling. Just have to stay positive and plug through it I guess.

I am a retaker, too… and staying positive is not easy. However, after so many hours of hard work and dedication, I want to KILL this thing!

I am a retaker also…my scores are on average about an 80 including book 6, QBank, Mocks and Samples I am losing focus the last few days and I don’t know why… Just gotta suck it up and make the final push…

Beubgthatguy: You made it easier for me. Thanx for sharing your score.

geranimo, know what helped me? I went through the CFA questions or just read the answers in the CFA test. You will be suprised how much will stick and how similar the questions of the mocks/samples are to the ones in the book. Think about it, the questions they give on the test/mock come from the actual CFA text. Do you think they aren’t going to be similar? Give it a shot man it helped me, the hardest thing for me was trying to figure out what they wanted… Best of luck!!

Retaker too… and do not feel confident at all. Been doing practice exams and my score does not seem to increase much… Last one was a 70%. I don’t know what more to do to get the scores higher… there is so much material that by the time I feel confident on one topic, I feel like I’ve lost the edge on the last.

CFA_2010; agreed. Too much material to keep the edge on all topics simultaneously.

losing it. did worse on schweser afternoon #1… i am finding it harder than the morning one

losing it? i’ve lost it a long time ago. 1 more week, if you give up now, you’ll regret it for a long time

i have another exam tomorrow morning, not cfa. and next week i am still going for job interviews. and i am doing shit on schweser book 6. i hate my life at the moment p.s. my back hurts like a b*tch

geramino, someone that isnt getting all the info for the cfa isnt dumb. just has a problem remembering 3000+ pages of info. we’re all suffering from it so i feel your pain. my advice - if your still struggling with ethics - do the CFAi sample exam on the site. its 49 very good ethics questions, that cover alot of the major issues. do that, and most importantly read over the areas of that test you dont score well in. i did that, and along with going over the sample/mock Q&As, am now scoring well in ethics. dont neglect GIPS either - i feel there’ll be at least 2 to 4 questions on that in the exam. good luck

regarding ethics, I recently read all the CFAI material (took ~3 hours i’d say) and did the CFAI questions in the curriculum. previously i was scoring 50-60% on ethics. Just scored 86% on a 50 question Schweser Q bank test.

I feel for you guys realizing how much you put into it, and I started to think of that myself. But you know what, all of those hours are a sunk cost, and the best thing to do is to keep pushing yourself until next Saturday.

I am definitely not giving up. It’s just that some practice exam scores can really crush the morale… I am thinking on drilling mainly questions on my weak areas and review my summaries. I don’t know if I’ll do another 3hr practice exam. We’ll see.

There’s a good section on exam tips at the end of secret sauce. Gave me some good ideas and encouragement.

I just failed the ethics section to one of the pratice tests, saw one of the most ridiculous questions yet - Some %#@$head, CFA, is a trader and one day another trader came over and verbally harassed him about poorly executed trades. %#@$head pushed the trader to the ground. Which of the following BEST describes %#@$heads conduct? A. did not violate either the CFA Institute Code of Ethics or any Standards of Professional Conduct. B. Violated Ethics, not Conduct C. Violated Ethics and Conduct. D. Violated Ethics, Conduct, and Intergrity of Capital Markets.

C. Code because he should act in a respectful and professional manner . Standard because pushing is certainly professional misconduct or at least knowledge of the law (physical assault is illegal in most places).
