Mac to Pc to Mac

I am creating a spreadsheet of things I want to buy for my garden and also plants I already own in excel on my PC at work. It has shops, prices, quantity, products, care guide. However I have a MAC at home.

How can i update the list and move it from MAC to PC to MAC? Tbh i dnt use my MAC for much else other than internet stuff although I would rather have this spreadsheet on the MAC. I’m sure there is a easy solution to this… I just don’t know which bit of software to use… it not a complicated spreadsheet…

Doesn’t Google have a free thing to share files online that requires nothing but a browser? Just upload it and use it either place. If that doesn’t work, you could try Apache Open Office for Mac. I’ve not used the Mac version, but have used it on a PC and its spreadsheet program handles Excel files with no issues. I’m assuming of course that you don’t have Office on your Mac.

Just copy paste the file in home network via samba protocol. If you do not know how to set up samba shares, Google it. There are thousands pages with instructions.

Google Documents. You can even open it at work assuming your company hasn’t blocked google.

If you use Dropbox, just keep the excel file in your dropbox folder on your home computer and then you can access it at work. Mac vs PC doesn’t matter if its an xls file. The Mac version of excel is terrible though.

So google has some type of spreadsheet listing software that I can use instead of excel?..

Obviously using excel is a no go because it’s crap on Mac…

Update! I can’t access google docs or dropbox from my work PC.

Why don’t you do actual work at your job, instead of dicking around and procrastinating with non-work stuff? Just kidding, as if anyone actually does that.

Worst case scenario, I guess, is that you just email your document to yourself between work and home, or email ideas to yourself and update the spreadsheet on the one computer.

hard Brexit going on and the man is more worried about his garden and his wife’s whining. the gall of some people.

Google docs is what I was thinking of. Bummer that you can’t access. Install Open Office for Mac on your machine at home. It’s free and will handle the Excel file like you were in Excel.
