i mean he isnt eloquent, but he is an effective writer. twitter has made his comments concise, straight to the point, with jarring effectiveness that even a kindergartender could understand. you can also tell he is smart as he understands complex ideas such as counterparty risk in a bankruptcy. to say that his intelligence is debatable just shows your bias. i will admit though, that he probably isnt an avid reader. from what i’ve read, he prefers 1 liners to sum up documents.
you see that is a big misnomer. he never filed for bankruptcy personally. it was corporations he controlled where he risked opm. imo, it was effective marketing. he is worth 3b dollars. you really think a guy that knows how to attract that kind of capital, aggrandize himself, then navigate the bankruptcy process is a dumb person?
I don’t think you understand what ‘bias’ means. One can listen to Donald Trump speak, and quite easily come away with the impression that the man is an absolute ignoramus. Having the opinion that he is of limited intelligence isn’t ‘bias’, its ‘opinion’. You happen to think otherwise. If anyone can listen to his infamous ‘nuclear uncle’ nonsense, and still believe him to be intelligent, then I seriously doubt the judgement of that person, but if they genuinely think he is smart, it’s not ‘bias’.
You are of the opinion that he is smart, based on what you have seen and heard. If I said ‘you think he’s smart, that’s your bias showing!’, it wouldn’t make sense, would it? Processing subjective information and forming opinion isn’t ‘bias’, otherwise you could dismiss literally every subjective viewpoint as being ‘biased’. It’s about as honest as shouting ‘fake news’ about anything he disagrees with. I really hope you grasp why that’s such a flimsy argument.
I think I am providing an unbiased view of our president to the forum and I feel that is a worthy pursuit. Maybe he appeals to me because he’s a salesman who may not be particularly book smart (like me) but has a good understanding of life and what’s important. A man who can see the forest from the trees.
Listen to Trump in this video, at least the first few minutes. I think despite the show he sometimes puts on, the soundbites they play, he’s genuinely a good guy and I look up to him because of it.
Yes, I do understand that. However, do you understand that simply dismissing everything as ‘biased’ doesn’t make any sense? You’re basically saying that if someone can listen to a man routinely speak with the vocabulary of a child, and then believe him to be of limited intelligence, the only explanation is that they are biased towards him? I could easily flip it around and say that anyone who doesn’t agree with me is biased, which is basically the Republican MO at the moment, to pretend that reality is just what you want it to be. It’s similar to the standard Trump supporter response that everyone is brainwashed my the MSM. You can take away every headline, every news story, every opinion piece, and just simply read his Twitter and listen to him speak, and it is obvious that the man is a moron. However, rather than engage with reality, you can just say it’s all down to negative news coverage, or ‘liberal bias’. It’s just a complete circular argument.
you dont need to speak or write eloquently to be intelligent is my argument. thats the issue with most libtards. they are mostly english majors that prattle about unimportant things.
On that topic, while I don’t believe that his ‘tactics’ regarding tariffs, trade wars etc are in any way coherent, he is absolutely correct to confront China on issues of IP and various other nefarious activities. There are some issues that I agree with him on genuinely, the only problem is, the rest of his Presidency is such a mess that I find it hard to believe it’s anything more than ‘stopped clock’ syndrome.
I honestly try to be as objective as possible, but the GOP have gotten to the point where they are just disconnected from reality, or at least, have just decided that reality doesn’t matter as long as their message gets out. It’s becoming extremely NK/Soviet style propaganda, where people are being asked to believe Trump and his surrogates, rather than objective reality. Mulvaney is a great example…he went on TV to say that Trump withheld aid to Ukraine based on domestic political reasons, and then several hours later simply denied having said that and accused the media of skewing his words. It was so brazen, that even Fox pulled him up on it. Trump’s assertion that the hurricane would hit Alabama was passed off as fairly minor, even humorous, but for anyone who isn’t an utter simpleton, should have been a very serious indication of how far these people will go rather than simply admit a fault or push back against Trump. So, yes, you can occasionally find something in the chaos, but I find it extremely difficult to see how a rational adult can still believe this man should be President, or even that he cares about this country.
