You make it sound as if the allegation or the intent to pursue it cropped up only this year.
In fact, the allegation’s been around for many years, as have the efforts to pursue it. What allowed it to go forward now was Trump’s statement that he is a resident of Manhattan; previously, his lawyers said that he couldn’t be sued in New York because he wasn’t a resident of New York.
So the fact that it’s going forward now is nobody’s fault but Trump’s. As on so many previous occasions, his mouth is his own worst enemy.

I remember one of my buddies got their harvard offer rescinded because the mom called the cops on him. He was listening to rap music and mom told him to turn it off. He told her to ■■■■ off and she tried to do it forcefully. So he pointed some scissors at her and told her to gtfo. She called the cops. He got arrested. Guidance counselor told harvard. Russia just passed a bill that legally nullified Putin’s terms so far, enabling him to rule Mother Russia for the next sixteen years, if he gets re-elected. Is there any way the US and A could do a similar amendment to its laws, so we might see another 4-5 terms of Mr.Trump?
