So the argument is about the speed at which the barriers are expanded, right? Or are some advocating tearing down what is already there. Would make sense if walls are immoral or exacerbate problems… An incomplete barrier doesn’t really compute. The discussion makes it sound like there are not barriers all over many parts of the border already, as I mentioned previously. Has to be so confusing for many. I, for one, have to keep reminding myself walls are nothing new. Similar to reminding myself that there are never more sells than buys and cash is always on the sidelines. Language matters. Feels like the Twilight Zone when I turn on any news channel or read about this “debate” on any forum.

Trump supporters can think for themselves, that’s not the problem. It’s what they do when they think for themselves that is the problems. I was in Dallas last week, and saw this story on the news for Tarrant county (a very big place). Some republican leaders want to remove Dr. Shafi a republican and a surgeon from a city council seat because he’s a moslem and might bring in sharia law. That’s just so idiotic, bigoted and ignorant. There is no shortage of white men who hate Trump and his policies. I think it is great that the democratic party wants to look as diverse as possible but I think it is bad that the democratic party lacks diversity of thought. The platform of identity politics, virtue signaling shouting down opposing views, labeling dissenters as racists/bigots/xenophobes is not working now and is not going to work in the long term for the democrats. Embracing people who differ from you is important but there comes a point when satisfying the desires of one person tramples the liberties of another. Nuanced conversation and building an understanding by engaging opposing viewpoints in thoughtful discussion is important and that is clearly missing from both political parties.
