Can someone confirm the following: Stock Market: Margin Requirements set by FED. Futures Market: Margin Requirements set by the Exchange. Also clarification on what Variation Margin means is appreciated. Never understood that one. Thanks!
The margin requirements set by are correct as above. Variation margin is the amount of money the Margin holder will have to pay if the money falls below the maintenance margin level. In Equity --> need to bring back to the Maintenance margin level. In Futures --> need to bring back to the Initial Margin level. HTH CP
