MBA pay study: Business Week

2/5/10/20/lifeitme average. US schools only. Example below, but best to check out the link. Fascinating, if rather pointless stuff. http://www.businessweek.com/interactive_reports/mba_pay_the_haul_of_lifetime.html Bloomberg Businessweek Ranking Career Pay Rank-2010 Career Pay Rank-2009 School Median Pay: Less Than Two Years () Median Pay: 5 Years () Median Pay: 10 Years () Median Pay: 15 Years () Median Pay: 20 Years () Estimated Career Pay () 2 1 1 Harvard University 133,000 149,000 182,000 225,000 232,000 3,867,903 4 2 2 University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) 137,000 141,000 161,000 193,000 203,000 3,491,372 7 3 4 Columbia University 119,000 134,000 165,000 184,000 194,000 3,349,669 6 4 3 Stanford University 123,000 138,000 149,000 182,000 206,000 3,327,145 12 5 6 Dartmouth College (Tuck) 124,000 127,000 142,000 178,000 181,000 3,146,031 3 6 5 Northwestern University (Kellogg) 117,000 117,000 141,000 176,000 190,000 3,085,680 9 7 8 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan) 121,000 126,000 137,000 165,000 177,000 3,031,132 1 8 7 University of Chicago (Booth) 111,000 115,000 137,000 166,000 184,000 2,970,437 10 9 11 University of California - Berkeley (Haas) 110,000 118,000 134,000 164,000 185,000 2,960,527 13 10 9 New York University (Stern) 106,000 112,000 135,000 171,000 172,000 2,918,748 16 11 15 University of Virginia (Darden) 105,000 111,000 138,000 162,000 181,000 2,908,136

Fale I still <3 ya though

Isn’t that median pay 20 years out kind of low. Are they just looking at base pay ?

Good god this looks pretty pathetic. There’s no way I’d settle for making 200K after 20 years from one of these top schools…I’d have killed myself long before that. What’s the median for someone in IM or IB from the top 10 schools…probably closer to 500k I’d presume?

Seriously, $232K for HBS 20 years out? Maybe its purely base as res420 said.

Must have been a slow day at Bloomberg to push out a story like this. Old news folks.

Lol…so Roy Halladay makes more in eight starts (figure two hours a start, so call it 16 hours, which is an average workday to a lot of us) than the average HBS makes in their lifetime? Why do people even send their kids to school? I’m gonna train my kid to be the greatest athlete ever…school is for failures, sports is for winners.

^ agreed. My ex co-worker is training his 3 yr old daughter to be a pro golfer. No joke. He plans on having her get a full tuition to Princeton or somewhere else, just as a backup plan. He is also a CFA charterholder and got a low-tier MBA.

Im gonna gonna inject my balls with steroids so my kids comes born jacked. Then i’m gonna train him to be more awesome than an orgy of Chuck Norris, Godzilla, Lebron, Kimbo Slice and Bacon. He will be playing in the MLB because the baseball season doesnt overlap too much with the NFL season. On by-days he will be participating in golf tournaments, playing all 4 rounds in one day so he can get back in time to play baseball. He will also hold the CFA charter.

yeah, but will he have an MBA?

^ that too from UofP?
