Member Directory & using the letters

If someone does not appear in a search of the CFA Institute Member Directory, does it mean that they are not currently permitted to use the designation for one reason or another?

Possible reasons:

  1. they disabled their names to be listed on the directory.
  2. you typed the name wrongly (or in a wrong order).
  3. they are not allowed to use the designation.
