The new employer I’m with temporarily is having me seek out databases to include their fund in. That is project 1. A thought I had is do any sort of minority associations exist for those in finance/fund management? Both owners of this fund are minorities and I’m wondering if some unique association may exist.
Let me get this: Just because your employer is a minority you think that they would be interested in investing with fellow minorities? I find that sort of thinking perverted.
I’m simply wondering if aassociation or group exists to join. It is simply to get the firm name out.

I’m not sure JOE2010 of all people is the best person to get advice on race relations from.
I used to work at a company owned by a woman (women are minority business owners). She would link up with an african american guy and score phat government contracts. The deal with government stuff was they weren’t price sensistive or quality sensistive so you’d just give them a boatload of turd and charge them rack rates. It warms my heart as a taxpayer. I remember discussing here the stigma against indian analysts. Personally, in my investment career, I’ve had less than stellar results from my reliance on analysts with indian names and yet, at the same time, I have a positive bias towards indian culture especially education values, work ethic, food and their women. I try to like the research but…

As always, you read to respond, not to understand- or you just lack the capacity to comprehend my posts. I was asking the motive of his thoughts - not the validity of his question. Given his response, you are the perverted one now.
While still at it - I am not mo34 - it is him who raised this issue of race with you, you may consider picking it up with him. As a caveat, he is at a very different level intellectually with your type.
Ha! Good one JHLD.
Sometimes I feel like my non-minority status adversely hampers my upward career mobility.

I used to oversee the financials of a couple of contracts like that. The writing of one contract specified that we had to have consultants who were “Chicksaw Indian Americans from the South West Region of the US” and on another contract we had to have “Black Disabled Women” to consult on the contracts. I’m not being racist or anything (and hope that no one is taking offense), but that was the actual legal wording on the documents. We basically told them to do research and send in reports periodically, paid them for nothing (they provided no value), and checked the box on the contracts, hired people who could actually do the job and not make our company look like crap. I am all for diversity, but the forming minority groups like that to exploit agencies, companies, and the government like this is ridiculous.
Here’s my question: if you’re not black, what’s stopping you from registering yourself as a black person for the purposes of securing special interest contracts, affirmative action for schools, etc.? Even if you don’t look black, how can people challenge you without looking ignorant or being accused of being racist? You could say you’re a light-skinned half black and what are people going to do, ask you to trot out your black parent to prove it?

Bill Richardson runs around political circles claiming to be part hispanic yet looks and sounds like Thurston Howell, III.

I won a $5,000 scholarship in college that was directed towards AAs. Surprisinlgy, nobody said a word when they awarded me that big check. Of course, I was acting extra balck just in case - maybe they though I am an albino or something.
You’re a very unethical person, Bernie Madoff.
And what’s to stop a white immigrant from from the Belgium Congo from receiving a scholarship for “African Americans”?
White people can’t dance.
well said aliman, but you forgot one thing. white men cant jump either
maddane Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > well said aliman, but you forgot one thing. white > men cant jump either It is so ironic that white people can be slammed with such labels and it is ok, had the movie title been aimed at anyone else, and Jesse Jackson/etc. would have a field day!
It’s true, I agree with that but there is a lot of history and it’s a sensitive area. My prediction is that there will be no more racism 400 years from now, as we will all be this off-white color from increased integration, if you catch my drift.
