Mis-timed study requirement?

Using IFT for material + 300hours spreadsheet template and I think I may have I have screwed up the timing.

The number of hours in the 300hours sheet for Alt&Risk is small (compared with other sections), but I am at Reading 15. Risk Management Application Applications of Derivatives and there seems to be many, many more hours to go through (hours worth of videos)! I also still need to do GIPS and there seems like a lot of material there too. I wanted to allow at least 4 weeks for practice exams and I can only put in about 15 hours / week…

Why so much detail around the Risk/GIPS etc? Any pointers / suggestions on how I should study from here on in?

Many thanks

alt & gips are worst scoring areas & least likely to help you pass.

I don’t know how IFT has organized their readings to give you insight into what lies ahead of you. I also don’t know if you’ve just been reading the material, or if you’ve been doing all the practice problems, blue boxes, EOC’s and reviewing along the way, but it does seem like you need to find a way to get through the material sooner rather than later particularly if you’re limited to studying 15 hours a week. Do you, for example, need to watch all the videos? Or just the videos on the subjects you’re having a harder time understanding? GIPS is brutal, if only because we haven’t covered it before, is boring, and all about rules versus recommendations. I’ve read it already, but have pretty much forgotten everything. It’s only worth some 5% of the exam - maybe if you can just watch the video for that to get the main points and then work through practice problems. You can always revisit it later, if you have time.

At this point I feel like I’m the only one on the forum who’s still got EOCs for many readings left, plus Ethics, GIPS. Although I am currently reading Schweser for the secind time.

I think it’ll take me mid-May to get though everything. Last two weeks will be revision through mocks.

I have about 20 EOCs to go through out of the 31. You’re certainly not alone. I have read the CFAI text once, but not Schweser.

Still on my first run of the material, no EOCs for either book.

On the other hand, I’m taking a 3-week break before the exam. Let’s hope it’s enough.

Definitely not alone! I’m finishing up GIPS and then will be done with the material. GIPS has more calculations / nuances than I anticipated and it’s taking me a bit longer. Only 5% of the test will be GIPS, so with that lingering in the back of my mind it’s slightly more challenging to read for deep comprehension.

@Medusa Good luck! @MrSmart Oh with three weeks off beforehand you got this.

I’m too finishing my first read by end of this month, did passive read. even not able to recall few readings .

Can any one please suggest/guide should redoing the material is more worthable or one should go for practicing AM and mocks ??

Practice, definitley.

Practice

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. Good luck!
