I wouldn’t waste time on those exams. I would rather utilize that time on brushing up the concepts from the notes and books.
I did CFAI Mock and scored 87,5% in the morning session ( the worst result from financial analysis- 73 %) and 90,5% in the afternoon session ( the worst result from ethics - 69%). My average result from Schweser Practice Exams vol.1 was 80%. Now I’m going to take ELAN Mock and relax a little bit. Do you think it is worth to do Schweser Practice Exams vol. 2 ? Any suggestions what i should do now besides chillin’ and drinking cold beer ?
My 2 cents: Schweser Volume 2 is a waste of time. You’re in an excellent position. Elan mocks is a good idea
Just did the 3rd Elan Mock (both AM and PM sections). The PM was pretty tough! I think they threw all the non-mainstream concepts into that PM section to make sure we don’t overlook anything. I ended up getting 78% on both AM and PM of Elan Mock 3, while I was over 82% on Mocks 1 and 2. Feel pretty good about it, just need to keep reviewing and retaining it! Will be very disappointed if I don’t clear it…

Does anyone here plan to buy the sample CFA mock online ? Did someone try then already ? I think the first one is 40$ and the subsequent are 20$ each. You have 2hours to complete and review and you cannot print at all neither save. Does it worth it though ?
@ Miss*Yiota - I took both sample exams. I thought they were helpful in gauging my progress but I didn’t learn much from them. Like you said, the test is timed and there is no way to print - as a result you don’t really have time to go over the answers to the questions that you miss. If you have other mocks available, you probably don’t need to buy the CFAI sample exams.
I took the Elan Mock 1, just the first part, got a 75%, not happy because i have worked my a** off for this. My lowest was equity and corp finance…they were mainly the memorization questions that i got wrong… As far at the time goes i was done in a little over 2 hours. FRA also kinda sucked…
This makes no sense IMHO. There is no such thing as not learning much from a practice test. Each test has different material on it. dcfox83 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > @ Miss*Yiota - I took both sample exams. I had a similar score on Elan Mock 1. Made a bunch of careless mistake though which I learned from and tried not to repeat. Score more than 80% on the second one which I think was harder especially the afternoon session. Keep going! bapswarrior Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I took the Elan Mock 1, just the first part, got a > 75%, not happy because i have worked my a** off > for this. I’ll try #1 early next week and see how I fare on it…
I just took CFA mock 2011 : 88 % in the AM and 83% in the PM (with several errors in Portfolio M due to fatigue… I thought Q and economics really easy… I just wonder why the last part in the mock was portfolio management and not derivatives? Will it be the same order during the exam? Thanks.
The Dec exam was the same order as the mock. I’m sure it’ll be the same this time around as well.

Elan mocks is a > good idea I took Volume 2, AM and PM sessions (exam 1) this morning and I found them to be chocked full of obscure, less emphasized and seemingly less relevant material than Schweser Qbank or CFAI. I have literally taken almost 3,000 questions from the Qbank and the Volume 2 exams were not representative of the larger Qbank material or the material presented in the CFAI mock. Consequently I did not score as well as I had on Qbank practice tests or CFAI mock. I was a little surprised. Anyone with similar thoughts?
I just tried the exam 1 of the Vol.2 and I was not choked… I found the questions close than the CFAI Mock. I even scored better than for Vol. 1. I may purchase Elan Mock. How is it? representative of the exam?

I tried the free Elan online mock and it was stupidly easy in my opinion – not very much like the 2011 CFA mock exam. Are the purchasable ones better?
This is one of those times where you get what you pay for. I would start by buying the CFAI sample exams if you have not already 99 cannon sloop Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I tried the free Elan online mock and it was > stupidly easy in my opinion – not very much like > the 2011 CFA mock exam. > > Are the purchasable ones better?
Andrew, did you buy the sample ? did you find them helpful ?
I took the exam in Dec and failed. I think Elan’s free one and the ones for purchase are great. Perhaps you know your stuff real well so you found it easy.
