Mock Vs. Real

Any ideas on: Is the proportion of topics same? Within each topic, Can we reject the null hypothesis: The same LOS will not be retested?

can’t say anything. Last year it was totally different. They didn’t test many parts in real. Also your score doesn’t mean anything. I know people who scored 70-80% in mock are taking it again this year.

detonating decoy’s

cfaboston28, what scores were you getting on the practice tests last year for Level 2?

well for level one, Mocks were great, they were very similar to the real exam, i think there were some question in the real exam that have exatly the same wording as the Mock exam !!!

In what ways is the Mock different from the actual test? Can someone please elaborate?

Sample exams were like in 60s and early 70s. Mock was in 60-70s too. I was in band 10 and think was very close to pass (3-4 more correct questions would have mattered) 80% in any exam should give you some confidence.

I read a post saying that most of guys who scored around 80% in Schweser Book 6, ended within Band 10, that post freaked me out… M.

haha. Band 10 sucks

cfaboston28 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > haha. Band 10 sucks That’s why I managed to be a band 8.

i was below 80% in all practice exams last year and I failed in band 10… I think I scored a 73% on sample II a week out.

anyone who scored near 80’s in the practice exams, especially Schweser - do you think it forced you to concentrate more on formulas than concepts? I for one have been doing much better on the CFAI mocks and practice exams than on Schweser who sometimes asks the most ridiculous hard to understand questions and in which a lot of cases 3 out of 6 questions are calculations. Whereas the CFAI questions seem much more straightforward and easier if you know the concepts. I have to imagine that if you are comfortable with the material and know how to do 70% of the calculations, you are going to pass.

Use the exams as a test to see how well you know the concepts. That is what is important, not whether you score a 65 or a 68. No one knows if they will test what is on the mocks again or not, but If you are confident in the concepts you should be OK.

Sorry to ask the same question twice but I was trying to get a feel of how close is the mock exam to real exam? I have heard contradicting views that mock is quite different from the real exam. Can someone please elaborate

dashingdude, from what i heard not very close. So if you get a 50 all is not lost. But if you get a 30-40 you have a lot of work to do.
