Hi , I passed level 1 and i am looking to get in a good Msc Finance program in uk. My problem is my unergrad performace is nothing to write home about. I have a gpa of 2.7 which is equivalent to B minus grade in my university. I have minors in math and “accounting and finance.” My tofel is good with a score of 114 on ibt if tht matters that is. BUt basically the only thing that i can shout about is that I passed the level 1 exam. I was wondering If they give weightage to to this exam or it doesn matter. I would like to get into a uni like warwick or manchester. what are my chances? Thank you
I doubt they take the CFA exam into consideration. My advice is to take the GMAT and get an excellent score. This may offset your GPA, although nothing is certain.
get good work experience pass all the CFA exams distinguish yourself in the field ace the GRE/GMAT prepare a good application ---------> good school
The real problem lies in distinguishing yourself from the herd. Because anybody can have a work experience, pass all CFA levels, get a 700+ in GMAT … but still breaking into Top-10 needs some mettle.

It happens. Good news is that you can offset your GPA by other factors. Make sure your GMAT/GRE are in top band, write stellar essays, ace interview, get good recommendations, and show good work experience trackrecord.

Getting into MSc at Warwick or Manchester is not quite as difficult as getting into a top-10 MBA programme. It absolutely cannot be compared imo. For instance, work experience is not required for MSc programmes.
Sorry to do this to you on this one. I am in the same boat. L2 candidate, cleared both L1 and L2 CAIA and just applied for Master’s in Financial Mathematics program. I met with the program admin to see what my chances were of getting in. Undergrad GPA 3.7 and MBA GPA 3.7. All he cared about were what math classes I had taken and my marks in those classes. I mentioned that I was a CFA L2 candidate and his reply to me was" which one is that again"!!! For my MBA, CFA was a huge deal. Everyone in the Finance stream went on to do L1 or move onto L2. For the MSc. Finance - primary focus is mathematics.
I totally second EcK52…i got the same reply for a masters in finance program at Olin business school…he was like we dont give any extra consideration for cfa…pls do all 3 levels of calculus before u apply
