MWR

For those using Schweser how come on page 12 (book 5) you can calculate MWR using your calc, but then on 15 you can’t? I am assuming it has something to do with cash being received on the 15th vs the 8th?

On Page 12, the question is treating each 15 day as 1 period. On page 15, it is daily return, so, the key strokes are CF0=400000 CF1=0 . . . . CF18=900000 CF19=0 . . . CF30=-2695398 Then calculate IRR.

Awesome, thanks so much!

^I think I made a mistake there, when I saw you write 15th vs 18th, I automtically wrote CF18=900,000. In the question, the CF happened on CF8. But, same concept!!!

CF0=400000 CF1=0, F01 = 14 (zeroes up to and including 15th) CF2= 900000 (15th. F02 is default to be 1 (day)) CF3=0, F03=14 (zeroes covering 16th thru 29th, inclusively) CF4=-2695398 (30th) Then calculate IRR as usual. - sticky

no way they will ask this on exam :slight_smile:

Can anybody give me the keystokes for HP 12 C for MWR ?

I don’t remember. You know, every year, about 5 days before the exam, I enter a panic because I have to relearn the bond function on my HP12c. I think at L1 I actually took a minute to read the stuff on the back of my calculator to make sure I did it right. Most of the time I just try to use the IRR function with coupons and a final principal payment instead, if I can. I think (but can’t remember 100%), that you can do something like press 0, CFi, 14, n, and that will tell the calculator to do a cash flow of 0, 14 times in a row.

Thanks bchadwick. I will hunt for my manual.
