It looks like the Aggies to the SEC is going to happen. That is assuming this whole Baylor lawsuit thing gets settled (Baylor should realize they’ve gotten far more out of being in a BCS conference than they deserve). Any thoughts on who the other SECOND addition would be? I would love to see UT, Texas Tech, OU, and OSU go to the P.A.C. It looks like the Longhorn network might put a crimp in that plan though.
I am really struggling with this. I know it is all being done for money, but thinking that the Big 12 is done and there will be nothing left but these power conferences just doesn’t sit well. I know when this all happens the Big 10 will not just sit around. Picking off Nebraska was only the begining.
rumors are the sec wants Missouri, Virginia Tech and Florida State. The big ten could take Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and maybe Oklahoma State? i forsee a Texas/Big West Conference, though. Texas won’t go anywhere.
I hope this signals a slow shift to a playoff-type system. It’s easier to coordinate a playoff with a few conferences rather than 10 or 15 different ones.
As a Longhorn, I really hate the idea of UT and A&M in different conferences. I fear the Longhorn Network will be a serious issue and would not be surprised to see us join ND as an idependent.

The winner in each division play for the conference title and the four conference champs advance to the playoffs.it’s far to simple to ever happen.
Getting a playoff might make this worth it, but it still seems like there is so much opposition to it. I agree with mar350 that it would make sense geographically for the Big 10 to take Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State. However I don’t see a lot of value in getting these schools from a money perspective. Kansas has a great basketball program, but football is the cash cow. That’s why the Big 10 was very interested in Nebraska. I don’t see why the SEC would go after schools from the ACC when they could “cherry pick” from the Big 12. Plus if they did get those ACC schools would all the other ACC schools be “in play” and the ACC could find itself in the same situation as the Big 12. The Pac10 is going to benefit from this the most, which is sad because that conference has underperformed in basketball and football for a long time now…
As a big 12 bottom feeder alumni and fan, I think the above analysis of teams to the big 10 is optimistic (although my school’s there and going to the big 10 beats conference USA or the other alternatives like the MAC, etc…). It’ll be interesting to see how it shakes out… A&M seems gone - I heard a rumor about Texas not wanting TCU/SMU in the Big 12 due to hard feelings from the SW conference collapse but have no idea if true… Somebody mentioned BYU as well? It’s hard to see the big 12 reupping and coming out a stronger conference…
I don’t think the sec wants or needs any new teams. I hope to god they don’t absorb a bunch of teams and dilute themselves. But I do agree, FSU would be worthwhile.
Playoffs are never gonna happen, there is too much money for too many people with the bowl game system.

I never bought this excuse. Bowls could simply be reassigned to various brackets. Problem solved. You have playoffs, and all the bowl advertising / payoffs, etc remains unchanged.
I’d like to see at least a +1, that way everybody gets the same money, just plus one more…

In addition, you could still have stupid bowls for the teams that finished .500 or better but didn’t make the playoff.
Well the ACC has now added Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Looks like the Big East and the Big 12 have the same problem.

This is probably more interesting from a basketball perspective…Big East RPI is going way down, ACC is going up.
if uconn follows pitt and 'cuse to the acc, that really gives the acc the nyc market. thats if you agree that syracuse, uconn, and to a lesser extent pitt > rutgers and st johns, which i think i do. sad what this will do to the big east tournament at msg, but football runs the game.

So the PAC 12 so no to expanding. No one has any clue what is going on.
The Big 12 lives to see another season (maybe).
The Big 12 has died about 10 different times this year. Now it looks like TCU may be headed there.
