I’d need some advice regarding the next step in my preparation for the CFA lvl 1 in December.
So far I have done the following:
read Schweser, made summaries for all the chapters (read it twice), made flashcards, did all the Qbank questions, all EOC twice and all blue boxes once, did no mock exam so far (and nor the topic test from CFAI). I’d say that my weakest areas are ECON and FRA.
So far, I didn’t learn all the formulas by heart (will start by now) but I am bit concerned about how to start the next phase of my preparation.
Did you do a mock exam “à froid”, it means directly after having read (once or more) all the stuff? And what mocks would you recommend? I heard that the Schweser’s one were “too easy”… My plan was to do the CFAI mock last (when I will be better prepared and know all the formulas by heart, if possible).
I would hop on the CFAI website and do the topic based practice tests now, and see how you are looking in each topic. Note where you struggle and go back and work on those areas more.
You have a shit load of time still so no need to stress or rush anything. I waited about 5 weeks before the exam to do my first mock and ended up running through 6 mocks in that time. I finished and even had so much time to spare I basically just relaxed the last 3 days before the exam and went over some flash cards.
Look online, you can usually find prior year CFAI mocks. Some of the material is dated the further back you go, but its worded the best of all the mocks I took. The key with the CFAI Practice Tests & Mocks is to spend probably more time reviewing than actually taking them. I would take a 1/2 mock, and spend the next 2 days going over everything I got wrong.
