Need career advice

Hi, I have close to 5 yrs IT exp, mainly coding & have engineering background. Currently making 95k plus 10% bonus & am 26 yrs old. Want to move to career in IB & am about to start preparing for CFA June L1. Any advice from someone with similar past & have taken up CFA. What are the most common hurdles, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How many times…nevermind There have been numerous people in your situation before, just do a search and you’ll find a wealth of information.

Here’s the Readers Digest version: Hurdles: You’re an IT person and IB’s don’t usually just say, “Come on over!” to IT people (nor to anyone without IB experience who isn’t straight out of school). Now, I’m not an IB professional, but you usually have to enter an analyst/associate program out of undergrad/MBA program. The CFA program isn’t a golden ticket in IB. In fact, it’s not so well recognized there as it is in PM/AM/research. Doubt it would help you much. Get a full-time MBA if you’re serious about IB and can get into a good school. Otherwise, you might want to re-consider this goal.
